As the Body of Christ, we have the unique privilege and responsibility to come alongside each other during times of hardship and suffering. Scripture tells us to "rejoice with those who rejoice, and to mourn with those who mourn" (Romans 12:15). By introducing one of these simple steps into your church, you can take an active role and help the Church around the world remain strong for the gospel.

How to Educate Your Church about Secret Believers

Bulletin Emphasis
Choose to feature a different country of the persecuted Church each week in your bulletin. Share about the state of the Church and what Christians face. Encourage your congregation to write encouragement letters to persecuted Christians in prison. (Names and addresses of prisoners can be obtained through Open Doors). Invite them to pray throughout the week for Christians in the country.

Missions Partnership
Invite your missions board to support Open Doors ministry projects. You can assist in delivering Bibles, materials, sponsoring safe houses, helping with training and theological studies and more. This is a fantastic way to strengthen the indigenous Church in areas of persecution and help the Church sustain its presence despite hostility.

International Day of Prayer
Over 100,000 churches around the world commit to pray for the persecuted Church on a single day in November. In 2007, the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) is scheduled for November 11. Open Doors prepares a FREE IDOP Kit for participating churches. Each kit contains a short video presentation, bulletin inserts, testimonies, and other valuable resources to help you lead your congregation in prayer. Request your free kit by contacting the Open Doors office nearest you.
